General Patient Information

AFTER HOURS PROCESS:

If you have an emergency, call 208-932-0672 and the Orthopedics surgeon on call will be notified.

If you have a non-emergency question, please call during regular business hours. A staff member will be happy to answer any questions or concern you have regarding your care and treatment in our clinic. The office number is 208-356-9550.

Regular business hours are Monday thru Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Friday 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. We are closed Saturday and Sunday.

Prescription Renewal Policy:

All prescription refills require at least 24-hour notice. Please call within normal business hours for refill authorizations. We do not manage medication for chronic pain. The on call physician will not refill any medications and medication refills will not be handled on nights, weekends, or holidays.

Telephone Calls:

Our doctor or his assistant will return your phone call when they are between exams or at the end of each day. We always try to let you know when the doctor or assistant may be able to return your call, all calls are routinely returned within 24-48 hours.

Surgery:

Once you have decided to have surgery, the doctor will need to see you prior to your surgery for a pre-operative appointment. All paper work, orders and testing may need to be done prior to your surgery. The office staff will assist you with all appointments related to your surgery.

Depending on the type of surgery and your medical history will determine where your surgery will be performed. The facilities that we utilize are Madison Memorial Hospital and Madison Memorial Surgical Center. All of our inpatient surgeries are performed at Madison Memorial Hospital. Dr. Larson, Dr. Lee and Dr. Torngren perform total joint replacement surgery. These procedures are performed at Madison Memorial Hospital.

Dr Larson uses Zimmer Implants for his total joint patients.

Dr. Lee uses Smith-Nephew Implants for his Total Hip and Total Knee patients. Shoulder replacements are Depuy Implants.

Dr. Torngren uses Smith-Nephew Implants for his total joint patients.

We advise that you do not travel any long distance for one month after your surgery. There may be an increased risk of blood clots if you fly within 3 months after surgery.

Total Joint Identification Cards:

Due to the accessibility of fake identification cards via the internet, these cards are no longer helpful.

The Transportation Security Administration states that in regards to traveling with total joint replacements that:

1.  Total joint cards are not necessary
2. Arrive two hours prior to scheduled departure
3. You will be searched and may have to show your scar.

We advise that you avoid any dental procedures for 1 month after your joint replacement.

Due to the risk of infection, anti-biotic treatment is recommended before any routine dental work. Your total joint is susceptible to infection during procedures which bacteria maybe introduced into your blood stream and end up causing an infection in your total joint. Let your dentist know you have an artificial joint. Some dentist do not require pre-treatment before dental procedures but Dr. Larson, Dr. Lee and Dr. Torngren request that you pre-medicate.

Pre-Antibiotic for Dental Procedures:

Amoxicillin 2 grams po one hour prior to dental procedure
